The fourth annual Crazy Creek Beer/Root Beer and Bratwurst Run is the Lake County Milers’ fun fall event, featuring adult and kid races and a family-oriented Oktoberfest theme, with hot dogs, bratwursts, beer and root beer served after the race. Additionally, all participants in the 5K get a souvenir T-shirt.
The race course meanders through the beautiful terrain around the Glider Port near Hidden Valley Lake, four miles north of Middletown. The course for the 5K run and walk takes participants over paved and compacted dirt surfaces. The kids 1/2 K (ages 4 and 5) and 1K (ages 6 through 9) runs are on mostly paved surfaces, with a small section of the 1K on dirt. All courses are free of traffic (zero cars) and flat, so personal records are often part of the fun.
First-, second- and third-place medals are awarded to both men and women overall for both the 5K run and walk, and medals will be given to the top three participants in each age/gender division for the 5K (male/female 10 and under; 11-13; 14-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60 and over). Winners in the kids races will also get medals in age and boy/girl divisions. The award ceremony begins right after the race, generally at about 10 a.m.
Adults and teens who register for the 5K run or walk by the cutoff date (Sept. 16; postmark accepted) will receive a T-shirt with the logo shown above. Sorry, no T-shirts for kids race participants.
If paid by Sept. 16, entry fees for the 5K are $20 for adults and $15 for youths 19 and under, with kids race fees at $10; after that cutoff date and on race day, all fees go up by $5, and the Milers cannot guarantee a T-shirt. (Milers get a $3 discount off their 5K fee.)

Start and finish are located at Crazy Creek Glider Port, 18896 Grange Road. To get to Crazy Creek glider port, take the Grange Road Exit off Hwy 29 (about 4 miles north of Middletown or a mile and a half south of the Hidden Valley Lake entrance). Take Grange Road for about 3/4 of a mile and turn right at the Crazy Creek Air Adventures billboard; follow signs for parking.
