Front, Caleb Ahlmann, age 8 (8th overall finisher 5K) with a time of 25:23 (8:11) pace, back, Madison Davis, age 9 (7th overall finisher) with a finish time of 25:14 (8:08 pace). Both kids are members of the Junior Milers division of the Lake County Milers.
Proving the Lake County Milers theory that running is for all ages, this year’s top 3 finishers in the 5K did not disappoint. The first place finisher, repeating his last year’s race victory, was Isaac Rascon, age 15 of Middletown with a breathtaking 17:12.1 time (5:32.9 pace) on the hilly 3.1 mile course. The second place finisher was 34 year, Rachel Ahlmann, of Lower Lake, with a finish time of 19:18.6 (6:13.7) pace. Rachel Ahlmann, a mother of 3 came on board this year as an assistant coach for the Middletown High School Cross Country team where Isaac is consistently the fastest runner. For their efforts, both Isaac and Rachel received a free entry into the Napa Valley Resolution run, an inspiring 5k/10k held annually on New Year’s Day in Yountville. This Miler-favorite event is hosted by running/cycling store Athletic Feat of Napa. Finishing the top 3 overall finishers in the 5K was Ahlmann’s husband, Christian (19:54.7, 6:25.3) who trailed his wife by a mere 36 seconds. The third male to finish the race was Greg Jemison, age 41 of Hidden Valley Lake with a finish time of 20:46.2 (6:42 pace), Greg is also very involved with the Middletown High School Cross Country Team.
Finishing the top 3 overall finishers in the 5K was Ahlmann’s husband, Christian (19:54.7, 6:25.3) who trailed his wife by a mere 36 seconds. The third male to finish the race was Greg Jemison, age 41 of Hidden Valley Lake with a finish time of 20:46.2 (6:42 pace), Greg is also very involved with the Middletown High School Cross Country Team. Extremely impressive were the next 3 overall finishers (all youth females) 5th finisher, Anna Cobb, age 11, with a finish time of 22:17.8 (7:11.5 pace), Erica Kinsel, age 15 23.26.3 (7:33.6 pace) and number 7th finisher, Madisson Davis, age 9 with a finish time of 25:14.5 (8:08.5) pace. Isaac, Anna, Erica and Madison had all participated in a short youth race in the Sacramento area the prior day. Finishing 8th place was 8 year old, Caleb Ahlmann with a finish time of 25:23 (8:11 pace). This was Caleb’s 2nd 5K race and the determined youngster seems to be following in his parent’s footsteps. The hilly 10k course had an interesting twist at the finish because the first top finishers were all female. Jennifer Perez, age 38 of Hidden Valley Lake was the overall winner of the challenging 10K course with a finish time of 50:39.4 (8:10 pace). Sheri Cobb (Hidden Valley Lake), age 46, was the second overall finisher of the 10K with a finish time of 52:52.8 (8:31 pace) and Rebecka Walters (Lakeport), age 28 was the third overall finisher of the 10K with a time of 53:26.6 (8:37.1 minute mile). All of these ladies are members of the Lake County Milers running club. The first place male finisher is also a Lake County Miler. Brien Crothers, age 59, of Hidden Valley Lake, pushed hard throughout the race and for his efforts he claimed the top spot for the Male division with an overall time of 53 minutes, 27 seconds on the 6.2 mile course (8:37 pace). Brien and Jennifer Perez as top winners of the 10k both won a free entry into the Napa Valley Half Marathon distance, a new offering at the iconic Napa Valley
